Japanese Spicebush

Unusual shrub can grow 10? tall with fragrant yellow flowers in March & April, a few weeks before our native Spicebush. Strange shaped leaves are light green with excellent yellow fall color even in full shade. Fruits are red, changing to black. Pictured is a plant at the Morris Arboretum.
